Rev. Robert M. Harvey

The Rev. Robert M. Harvey has been pastor of St. Peter since August 1, 1997. Pastor Harvey was born in Baltimore at Church Home and Hospital and raised in Dundalk. His home congregation where he was baptized and confirmed was St. George’s Episcopal Church on Dundalk Ave. He graduated from Dundalk Sr. High in 1964, and from the University of Maryland (at College Park) in 1969 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following a successful engineering career (he still holds a Professional Engineer’s license in Pennsylvania) as an Environmental Engineer, he entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in 1982.

Pastor Harvey became a Lutheran in 1971 and was an active layperson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bath, PA where both of his children, Ruth and Matthew were baptized. Ordained in June 1986, he served as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville, PA for seven years. Before coming to St. Peter, he served for four years at Prince of Peace, Rosedale in East Baltimore. Pastor Harvey has also served as an Interim Pastor at several churches in PA and Baltimore during the past 20 years. From 1997 until 2001 he served on the Delaware-Maryland Synod Council, and was Synod Secretary from 1999-2001. Over the years Pastor Harvey has served on numerous Synod Committees in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and has served as a First Year Field Education Supervisor for Gettysburg Seminary.

Pastor Bob and Roxanne Maffitt were married on August 17, 2002, and between them they have four children and five grandchildren.
